Saving St Paul’s: The Watch and the Second World War
St Paul’s Cathedral, London
2025

Drinkall Dean were appointed to design Saving St Paul’s: The Watch and the Second World War, a powerful outdoor exhibition presented by St Paul’s Cathedral to mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War. We worked with studio HB who developed the graphic identity, and Steven Swaby who worked closely with the team at St. Paul’s to develop the interpretation and narrative.

Designed to engage a wide audience, including tourists and younger visitors, the exhibition is installed adjacent to the cathedral in a series of immersive totem clusters. Each totem presents imagery and narrative across all sides, arranged in six thematic groups. Five themes radiate outward from the People’s Memorial in gently descending totem heights, while a sixth forms an inner ring of low, angled totems surrounding the memorial, encouraging moments of reflection.
